• Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1331)
Observe the information regarding the battery terminal threaded connections.
After connecting the battery and switching the ignition on, the ASR/ESP Control Lamp (K155) lights up continuously. The ASR/ESP Control Lamp goes out automatically if a straight distance is driven at 15 to 20 km/h (9 to 12 mph). This activates the Steering Angle Sensor (G85).
Always follow the instructions regarding disconnecting and connecting the battery. Refer to => [ Battery (A), Disconnecting and Connecting ] Battery (A), Disconnecting and Connecting.
Procedure
- Connect the positive cable - 2 - to the positive terminal on the battery - 1 - and tighten the bolt. Refer to => [ Battery Overview ] Battery Overview.
- Connect the ground cable - 3 - to the negative terminal on the battery - 1 - and tighten the bolt. Refer to => [ Battery Overview ] Battery Overview.
- Close the battery jacket or install the battery case cover and lock it into place.
- Perform the work steps listed in the Table.
