Fuel Injector Seal
Fuel Injector Seal
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Tool Set (T10133)
• Brass Wire Brush
Procedure
• The combustion chamber seal (Teflon seal) for the fuel injectors must not be oiled or greased.
- Clean the fuel injectors. Refer to => [ Fuel Injectors, Cleaning ] Procedures.
- Carefully remove the old combustion chamber seal (Teflon seal) with the appropriate tool (for example, cut the seal open with a razor blade, spread it outward with a small screwdriver and remove it forward). When doing this, make sure not to damage the groove - arrow - and circumferential rib in the groove base.
- Carefully clean the fuel injector around the groove - arrow - and the base of the groove. Remove any deposits (coking) using a brass wire brush.
- Insert a new seal onto the assembly cone (T10133/5).
- Slide the seal as far as it will go onto the assembly cone (T10133/5) using the assembly sleeve (T10133/6).
- Rotate the sleeve (T10133/6) and slide the seal onto the assembly cone (T10133/5) up to the end.
- Place the assembly cone (T10133/5) on the fuel injector and slide the sleeve (T10133/6) onto the fuel injector.
- Remove assembly cone (T10133/5) and slide the seal into the groove using the sleeve (T10133/6).
- Press the sizing sleeve (T10133/7) with a slight turning motion (approximately 180°), onto the fuel injector until it stops.
- Pull off the sizing sleeve (T10133/7) again using a turning motion in the opposite direction.
- Press the sizing sleeve (T10133/8) with a slight turning motion (approximately 180°), onto the fuel injector until it stops.
- Pull off the sizing sleeve (T10133/8) again using a turning motion in the opposite direction.
- Replace the fuel injector O-ring - 5 - and support ring - 4 -.
