Mounting Bracket

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Hose Clamps up to 25 mm Dia. (3094)

Sealing Tool (T10249)

Removing

- Turn off the ignition and disconnect the battery ground cable.

- Remove the air filter housing.

- Remove the battery and the battery tray.

- Clamp off the supply hose - A - to the clutch master cylinder using a hose clamp up to 25 mm dia. (3094).






It is necessary to loosen the noise insulation - B - from the bulkhead as follows in order to access the connections on the clutch master cylinder:

- Remove the retainer - C -.

- Fold the noise insulation - B - near the clutch master cylinder forward in the - direction of the arrow -.

It is not necessary to remove the noise insulation - B - completely.

Be careful not to get any brake fluid on the longitudinal member or on the transmission when performing the following work. If it does, clean the areas thoroughly.

Place a lint free cloth under the clutch master cylinder.

- Remove the supply hose - 1 - from the clutch master cylinder.






- Pull out the clip - 2 - with a screwdriver or with a pointed tool and remove the hose/line assembly or line - 3 - from the master cylinder.

- Unclip the clutch position sensor (G476) from the clutch master cylinder - arrow - and remove it with the connector - 4 - still connected.

Seal the supply hose using the sealing tool (T10249/1).






When working inside the footwell, cover the carpet with cloths to protect it from leaking brake fluid.

- Remove the drivers side trim and the cover under the trim. Refer to "Storage Compartment, Covers and Trim".

- Remove the bolt - 2 - and the left footwell vent - 1 -.






- Remove the impact bolster bolt - 1 - and support - 2 -.






- Remove the nut - arrow - and the ground wire from the steering column.






- Press the tabs - arrow - on both sides of the wire guide - 1 - toward the inside and remove the guide - 1 - from the steering column.






- Remove the sound absorber - arrow - from the clutch pedal bracket, if equipped.






- Remove the retainers - A -.






- Remove the sound absorber.

- Push the sound absorber near the upper nut - 1 - above the clutch pedal - A - in the - direction of the arrow -.






- Remove the nuts - 1 and 2 -.






The upper nut - 1 - is accessible between the relay carrier and steering column trim.

- Remove the mounting bracket - 3 -.

Installing

Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal while observing the following:

Some vehicles have a sound absorber - arrow - on the clutch pedal bracket.






- Bring the sound absorber back into its installed position.

Replace the self-locking nuts.

Refer to the Parts Catalog.

- Install the impact bolster support - 2 - and tighten the bolt - 1 - to specification.






- Install the wire guide - 1 - to the steering column.






The tabs - arrow - on both sides must clip into the column.

- Install the ground wire to the steering column and install the nut - arrow -.






- Install the left footwell vent.

- Install the drivers side trim and the cover under the trim. Refer to "Storage Compartments, Covers and Trim".

- Press in the hose/line assembly or line - 1 - with a new seal/O-ring - 2 - to the clutch master cylinder connection - 4 - until the clip - 3 - engages.






- Pull on the hose/line assembly or line to make sure it is secure.

- After removing the hose clamp up to 25 mm dia. (3094) bring the supply hose back to its original shape.

- Bleed the clutch system. Refer to => [ Clutch System, Bleeding ] Procedures.

- Install the battery.

- Install the air filter housing.

- Connect the battery and follow the procedure regarding what to do after connecting the battery.
