Alternator Pulley / Clutch: Service and Repair
Ribbed Belt Pulley
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Socket (VAS 3310)
• Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1331/)
• Digital Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1756 A)
When disconnecting and connecting the battery, always perform the work procedure as described in the repair information. Refer to => [ Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting ] Service and Repair. Not adhering to sequence will result in the deactivation of Main Battery Switch -E74- and subsequent damage to electrical system components.
Removal
- Use the (VAS 3310) to remove the ribbed belt pulley nut from the generator shaft.
- Turn counter-clockwise to loosen the nut.
Installation
Install in reverse order of removal, noting the following:
- Tighten the threaded connection between the ribbed belt pulley and generator shaft 25 Nm and 60° angle of rotation.
