Fuel Tank and Attachments Overview

• Hose connections are secured with either spring or clamp type clips.

• Replace the locking clamps with spring clamps.

• Spring type clip pliers (VAS 5024 A) or hose clip pliers (V.A.G 1921) are recommended for installing the spring clamps.






1 Fuel Filler Tube

2 Fuel Pump Control Module (J538)

• To replace, it is necessary to remove the fuel tank, Refer to => [ Fuel Tank ] Fuel Tank.

3 Fuel Tank

• Support the fuel tank using the engine-/gearbox jack (V.A.G 1383 A).

• Draining, refer to => [ Fuel Tank, Draining ] Procedures.

• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Fuel Tank ] Fuel Tank.

4 Flange

• Left side.

• For the fuel level sensor 3.

• Pay attention to the installed position on the fuel tank, refer to => [ Installed Position of Flange on Fuel Tank ].

5 Lock Ring

• 145 Nm

• Use the wrench (T10202) for removal and installation.

• Make sure it is secure.

6 Fuel Tank Strap

• Pay attention to the installed position.

• Make sure it is secure.

7 Bolt

• 33 Nm

8 Heat Shield

9 Protective Cover

• For the fuel tank.

10 Flange

• Right side

• With the pressure relief valve.

• For the fuel delivery unit and the fuel level sensor.

• Pay attention to the installed position on the fuel tank. Refer to => [ Installed Position of Flange on Fuel Tank ].

- Install the flanges in direction of travel - arrow -.

The tab - 2 - must be between the tabs - 1 and 3 - on the fuel tank.
