Shift Knob, Boot and Noise Insulation
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Hose Clamp Pliers (V.A.G 1275)
• Trim Removal Wedge (3409)
Removing
- Pull the boot upward out of the center console frame or carefully pry it out - arrows -.
On some equipment versions, you must pry out the boot at the front area.
- Roll the boot up over the shift knob.
- Open the clamp - arrow - and remove the shift knob and boot.
On some equipment versions, the center console frame remains in the center console.
- Then, the center console frame must be pulled out or carefully pried out - arrow 1 -.
- Remove the noise insulation - arrow 2 -, if equipped.
Installing
- Install the noise insulation, if equipped.
Noise Insulation, Installed Position
The - a arrow - points in the direction of travel.
The tabs - B arrows - must latch into the center console.
- Then press the frame into the center console.
- Then turn the inner side of the boot toward the outside.
Install the shift knob all the way on.
- Install the shift knob and boot and squeeze the new clamp - arrow - together.
- Then, press the boot into the frame in the center console.
