Front Seat Belts, 2-door
Removing
• The following describes removing and installing on the left side of the vehicle. Removing and installing on the right side is identical.
• Read the Safety Instructions for working with airbags, belt tensioners and battery cut-out units. Refer to => [ Airbag, Belt Tensioner and Battery Cut-Out Units, General Safety Precautions ] Airbag, Belt Tensioner and Battery Cut-Out Units, General Safety Precautions.
• Follow the special instructions regarding belt tensioners. Refer to => [ Belt Tensioner, Special Instructions ] Belt Tensioner, Special Instructions.
- Disconnect the battery.
- Remove the B-pillar upper trim. Refer to => [ Upper B-Pillar Trim ] Upper B-Pillar Trim
- Remove the seat bench. Refer to => [ Bench Seat ] Bench Seat.
- Remove the backrest. Refer to => [ Backrest ] Backrest
- Remove the sill panel strip (2-door vehicle). Refer to => [ Sill Panel Trim, 2-door ] Sill Panel Trim, 2-door
- Remove side trim. Refer to => [ Side Trim, 2-door ] Side Trim, 2-door
- Remove bolt - 1 - (20 Nm).
- Remove the screw - 2 - 40 Nm) and washer - 3 -.
- Pull the guide bracket - 4 - through loop in belt webbing.
- Remove screw - 5 - (40 Nm) and remove automatic belt retractors - 6 - from B-pillar.
Electrostatic charges may result in involuntary deployment of the belt tensioner. Therefore the technician must discharge static electricity from the body before separating the ignition and ground wiring. This is done, for example, by briefly grasping the chassis or door striker.
- Disconnect the connector - 7 -.
- Remove bolts - 8 - (4.5 Nm) and belt guide - 9 -.
- Remove bolt - 10 - (40 Nm) and remove belt relay - 11 - from belt height adjuster.
Installing
- Install in reverse order of removal.
- Connect the battery.
