Output Shaft Seal
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Puller (T10055)
• Adapter (T10055/2)
• Press Tool for Shaft Seal (T10180)
• Sleeve for Shaft Seal (T10186)
Removing
- Remove the transmission. Refer to => [ Transmission, Removing ] Transmission, Removing.
- To remove the seal, screw in a sheet metal screw - arrow - of approximately 4 mm in diameter into the seal.
• Screw in the sheet metal screw so that it jams between the seal and the metal ring.
• Do not screw in the sheet metal screw too far as to avoid damaging the bearing behind it.
- Remove the seal using (T10055) and the screw.
Installing
- The new seal must be lubricated with Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF), especially at the sealing lips.
- Install the (T10180) onto the output shaft, so that the seal cannot be damaged.
- Drive in the new seal until seated using (T10180). Do not tilt the seal when doing this.
