AdBlue(R) Tank






AdBlue(R) Tank

The Nitrogen Oxide (NOx) reducing agent AUS 32 is known as AdBlue(R).

CAUTION!
The AdBlue(R) can irritate skin, eyes and the respiratory system.

If the fluid comes into contact with skin, rinse the affected area immediately with plenty of water.

Consult a physician if necessary.

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Torque Wrench (5-50 Nm) (V.A.G 1331)

Engine/Transmission Jack (V.A.G 1383 A)

Removing

- Empty the AdBlue(R) tank. Refer to => [ AdBlue(R) Tank, Emptying ] AdBlue(R) Tank, Emptying.

- Remove the muffler. Refer to => [ Muffler and Mounts Overview ] Description and Operation.

- Remove the muffler heat shield.

- Loosen the rear stabilizer bar and fold it downward.

- Position the (V.A.G 1383 A) under the AdBlue(R) tank.





- Loosen the nuts - arrows - and support the AdBlue(R) tank in the installed position using (V.A.G 1383 A).





- Lower the AdBlue(R) tank carefully until the upper insulation can be removed.

CAUTION!
Protect the connectors, for example with a plastic bag and cable tie, before using AdBlue(R). The connectors could be damaged because the AdBlue(R) has a tendency to seep and it crystallizes.

- Disconnect the connector - B -.





- First press the clip on the AdBlue(R) injector (N474) wiring connection in the - direction of arrow 1 - as illustrated and then remove the delivery line - A - in the - direction of the arrow 2 - without using tools and without pulling sharply.





CAUTION!
Seal all openings on the line and the connections immediately with plugs to prevent contaminants from entering. Even tiny particles can cause serious damage to the system.

- Disconnect the connector - arrow - on the left side of the AdBlue(R) tank from the AdBlue(R) reservoir processing unit (G698).





- Disconnect the connector - 1 - on the right side of the AdBlue(R) tank.





- Disconnect the connector - arrows - from the AdBlue(R) heater control module (J891).

- Unclip the protective pipe - A - with the lines from the AdBlue(R) tank.





- Remove the lines from the protective pipe - A -.

- Disconnect the connector - arrows - from the AdBlue(R) pump (V437).

- Remove the entire wiring harness from the AdBlue(R) tank.

- Lower the AdBlue(R) tank.

Installing

- Raise the AdBlue(R) tank carefully using (V.A.G 1383 A) until the wires and delivery line can be connected.

- Position the upper insulation on the AdBlue(R) tank.

Make sure all of the components on the AdBlue(R) tank are secure, the upper insulation is positioned correctly and none of the lines are pinched.

- Raise the AdBlue(R) tank carefully using (V.A.G 1383 A) until the nuts can be installed.

- Tighten the nuts to 20 Nm

The rest of the installation is basically a reverse of the removal sequence.

- Fill the AdBlue(R) tank.
