Digital TV Tuner For Digital TV DVB-T

The analog Navigation/TV Tuner (J415) is available as special equipment in vehicles with "Radio Navigation System 2" with multi-function display (MFD).

Navigation/TV Tuner (J415) can be used to receive analog television programs.

Additional to analog Navigation/TV Tuner (J415) there is also a separate Digital TV Tuner (R171) installed (principle of set-top-box).

Antenna wires of window antenna are looped through Digital TV Tuner (R171) and are then connected to analog Navigation/TV Tuner (J415).

Digital TV Tuner (R171) is operated via remote control.

While driving, the television picture is darkened for safety reasons but the sound can still be heard. Refer to => Operating instructions.

• Before troubleshooting or servicing, the technicians must be familiar with the function and operation of the radio unit/radio navigation system and of the TV tuner.

• When performing service work or Fault-Finding on the analog Navigation/TV Tuner (J415), use => Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System (VAS 5051) or Vehicle Diagnosis and Service System (VAS 5052).

• When the battery is reconnected, check any affected system or component (radio, clock, comfort electrical connection etc..) according to the repair manual and/or the operating instructions.

Troubleshooting

The analog Navigation/TV Tuner (J415) is capable of vehicle self-diagnosis.

When performing Fault-Finding, use Diagnostic Operation System (VAS 5051) or Vehicle Diagnosis and Service System (VAS 5052) in the function "Guided Fault Finding".

Digital TV Tuner (R171) is not capable of vehicle self-diagnosis.

When performing servicing or Fault-Finding.
