Engine and Transmission Mount, Adjusting






Engine and Transmission Mount, Adjusting

Always use two brackets with spindles and hooks (10-222 A/10). Otherwise the engine support bridge (10-222 A) will have a tendency to tip.

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Engine Support Bridge (10-222 A)

Engine Support Adapter (10-222 A/3) (Qty: 2)

Bracket with Spindle and Hook (10-222 A/10) (Qty: 2)

Shackle (10-222 A/12)

Adapter (10-222 A/22)

Lifting Eyebolt (3368) (for automatic transmissions only)

Procedure

- Remove the engine cover. Refer to => [ Engine Cover ] Engine Cover.

- Remove the air filter housing. Refer to => [ Air Filter Housing ] Air Filter Housing.


Danger of causing damage to electrical components when disconnecting the battery.

Complete the steps for disconnecting the battery.

- With the ignition turned off, disconnect the ground cable - arrow - from the battery.






- Remove the battery.

- Remove the battery tray bolts - arrows - and tray.






Vehicles with a Automatic Transmission:






- Install the lifting eyebolt (3368) to the transmission as shown.

- Install the engine support bridge (10-222 A) using the following special tools:






Adapter (10-222 A/22) (Qty: 2)

Engine support adapter (10-222 A/3) (Qty: 2)

Bracket with spindle and hook (10-222 A/10) (Qty: 2)

Shackle (10-222 A/12)

Vehicles with a Manual Transmission:






- Remove the shift mechanism from the transmission.

- Install the engine support bridge (10-222 A) using the following special tools:

Adapter (10 - 222 A /22) (Qty: 2)

Engine support adapter (10 - 222 A /3) (Qty: 2)

Bracket with spindle and hook (10-222 A/10) (Qty: 2)

Shackle (10 - 222 A/12)

Continuation for all Vehicles:

- Support the engine with the transmission but do not lift it.

- Replace the engine mount to engine mount bracket bolts - arrows - one after the other if this was not already performed when the engine was installed and tighten them by hand.






Vehicles with a Manual Transmission:






- Replace the transmission mount to transmission mount bracket bolts - arrows - one after the other if this was not already performed when the engine was installed and tighten them by hand.

Vehicles with a Automatic Transmission:






- Replace the transmission mount to transmission mount bracket bolts - arrows - one after the other if the was not already performed when the engine was installed and tighten them by hand.

Continuation for all Vehicles:

- Loosen the engine and transmission mount bolts approximately 2 turns.

- Adjust the engine/transmission mount and hand tighten the bolts.

Engine Mount:






There must be a distance of at least 10 mm - a - present between the engine mount bracket - 2 - and the right longitudinal member.

The casting edge on the engine mount bracket - 2 - must be parallel to the engine mount - 1 -.

Transmission Mount:






On the transmission side, the edges of the transmission support arm - 1 - and the transmission mount - 2 - are parallel.

Dimension - x - is the same size on both sides of mount.

- Tighten the engine/transmission bolts to specification. Refer to => [ Fastener Tightening Specifications ] [1][2]Specifications.

Further installation is performed in reverse order.
