Steering Lock Housing

Removing

- Remove steering wheel.

Remove upper and lower steering column trim Steering Column.

- Remove bolt for steering column switch - arrow - and remove steering column switch.





- Remove plastic cover over shear bolts.

In vehicles with automatic transmission, locking cable for ignition key removal lock must be disengaged => [ Ignition Key Removal Lock Cable, Disengaging and Engaging ] Service and Repair.

- Chisel out shear bolts using suitable chisel.





Removing and installing ignition starter switch/lock cylinder.

Installing

Install ignition starter switch/lock cylinder.

- Connect connector for ignition/starter switch.

- If necessary, engage locking cable for ignition key removal lock, automatics only => [ Engaging ] Service and Repair.

- Install new snap-off bolts.

- Tighten snap-off bolts until head breaks off.

- Install steering angle sensor (G85).

- Install steering column switch trim.

- Install steering wheel.

- Install airbag unit.

CAUTION!
Make sure that no person remains in the vehicle while the battery is reconnected!
