Cooling System - General Repair Information

General Repair Information

CAUTION!
When doing any repair work, especially in the engine compartment, pay attention to the following due to clearance issues:

Route lines of all types (for example, fuel, hydraulic, Evaporative Emission (EVAP), coolant, refrigerant, brake fluid and vacuum) and electrical wiring so that the original path is followed.

To prevent damage to the lines, make sure there is sufficient clearance to all moving or hot components.

When the engine is warm the cooling system is under pressure. If necessary release the pressure before beginning repair work.

Secure all hose connections with hose clamps.

The hose clip pliers (VAG 1921) or hose clip pliers (VAS 6340) are recommended for installing spring clamps.

Always replace gaskets and seals.

Arrows on coolant pipes and coolant hoses must line up across from each other.
