Clutch Master Cylinder: Service and Repair






Master Cylinder

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Pliers (T10005)

Removing

- Remove the mounting bracket. Refer to the following:

Golf from MY 2010, refer to => [ Mounting Bracket ] Mounting Bracket.

- Disengage the mount from the clutch pedal using the pliers (T10005).






- Place a spacer - A - between the clutch pedal and the jounce bumper and then push the clutch pedal to the spacer.






Spacer length = approximately 40 mm (for example, a 1/2" socket).

- Disengage the master cylinder - B - and remove the master cylinder from the mounting bracket, first in the - direction of arrow 1 - and then in the - direction of arrow 2 -.

Installing

Move the clutch pedal up to the stop in its resting position.

- Install the mount - 2 - onto the clutch master cylinder actuator rod - 1 -.






- Place a spacer - A - between the clutch pedal and the jounce bumper and then push the clutch pedal to the spacer.






Spacer length = approximately 40 mm (for example, a 1/2" socket).

- Install the clutch master cylinder to the mounting bracket, first in the - direction of arrow 1 - and then in the - direction of arrow 2 -.

- Push the clutch master cylinder actuator rod - 1 - in the - direction of the arrow - until the mount - 2 - clicks into the place in the clutch pedal.






- Install the mounting bracket. Refer to the following:
