Halogen Headlamps







Halogen Headlamps

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1331)

Removal

It is not necessary to disconnect the battery ground cable.

There are two headlamp manufacturers. Removing and installing the headlamp is identical for both versions.

Removing and installing the left headlamp is shown in the illustrations. Removing and installing the right headlamp is identical.

Always adjust the headlamp after installing it.

- Switch off ignition, switch off all electrical consumers and remove ignition key.

- Remove the radiator grille.

- Remove the front bumper cover.

- Disengage and disconnect the multi-pin connector - 1 -.






- Remove the screw - 2 - on the back of the headlamp.

- Remove three mounting bolts - arrows -.






- Pull the headlamp forward, straight out of the opening in the body.

Installation

Install in reverse order of removal, noting the following:

- Insert the three guides on the headlamp into the bottom - arrows - of the guide piece and slide it into the opening in the body.






- Install the three screws - arrows -.






- Install the screw - 2 - on the back of the headlamp.






- Tighten the screws on the headlamp to the tightening specification given in the assembly overview. Refer to => [ Halogen Headlamps Overview ] Halogen Headlamps Overview.

- Check installation position of headlamp for uniform gap dimensions.

If headlamp has an uneven gap dimension to the body, installation position must be corrected. Refer to => [ Headlamps, Correcting Installation Position ] Headlamps, Correcting Installation Position.

- Check headlamp for function.

If one headlamp is removed, it must always be adjusted after installation.

- Check the headlamp setting and adjust if necessary.
