Stabilizer Bar

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Torque wrench (V.A.G 1331)

Removing

• The following work steps are described for the left side of the vehicle. These work steps also apply simultaneously for right side of vehicle.

- Remove the nut - 1 - and pull coupling rod - 2 - out of stabilizer.






• Do not loosen bolt - arrow - on tie rod - 3 - on right side of vehicle.

- Remove bolts - arrows - for stabilizer clamp.






- Thread stabilizer bar toward left out of subframe.

• When threading out stabilizer bar, ensure subframe surface is not damaged. Correct any possible paint damage.

Installing

- Thread stabilizer bar from left side out into subframe.

• When threading in stabilizer bar, ensure subframe surface is not damaged. Correct any possible paint damage.

- Tighten the bolts - arrows - for stabilizer clamp uniformly.






- Install the coupling rod - 2 - in the stabilizer bar and tighten the nut - 1 -.






Tightening Specifications
