Fluid Pan: Service and Repair
Transmission Fluid Pan
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Drip Tray for VAS 6100 (VAS 6208)
• Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1783)
Removing
- Remove the noise insulation under the engine.
- Place the drip tray for VAS 6100 (VAS 6208) below.
- Remove the inspection plug - A -.
- Remove the overflow tube - C - and drain any remaining transmission fluid.
- Loosen the transmission fluid pan bolts - arrows - in a diagonal sequence.
- Remove the transmission fluid pan and gasket.
Installing
Install in the reverse order of removal. Pay attention to the following:
- Clean the two magnets inside the recesses in the pan. Make sure that the magnets are in full contact with the pan.
- Check the gasket for damage and make sure all of the spacers (quantity: 8) are present.
Otherwise, replace the gasket.
- Install the transmission fluid pan and gasket, when doing this be sure not to pinch any wires.
- Make sure the pan gasket fits correctly.
- Tighten the transmission fluid pan bolts - arrows - diagonally and in several steps. Refer to => [ Fastener Tightening Specifications ] Specifications.
- Install the overflow tube - C -. Refer to => [ Fastener Tightening Specifications ] Specifications.
- Replace the seal - B - for the inspection plug - A -.
- Fill the transmission fluid and check the level. Add if necessary. Refer to => [ Transmission Fluid Level, Checking and Adding ] Transmission Fluid Level, Checking and Adding.
