Front Seat Belts
• Removal and installation is described for the right-hand side of the vehicle. Removal and installation for the left-hand side is performed in the same manner.
Removing
CAUTION!
• Read the Safety Instructions for working with airbags, belt tensioners and battery cut-out units and especially pay attention to the instructions for belt tensioners. Refer to => [ Airbag, Belt Tensioner and Battery Cut-Out Units, General Safety Precautions ] Airbag, Belt Tensioner and Battery Cut-Out Units, General Safety Precautions.
- Move seat as far forward as possible.
- Disconnect batteries.
- Remove B-pillar trim. Refer to => [ B-Pillar Trim ] B-Pillar Trim.
- Remove sill panel strip. Refer to => [ Sill Panel Trim ] Service and Repair.
- Remove belt anchor. Refer to => [ Belt Anchor ] Belt Anchor.
- Remove bolt - 2 - (50 Nm) and remove belt inertia reel - 1 - from B-pillar.
CAUTION!
Electrostatic charges may result in involuntary deployment of the belt tensioner. Therefore the technician must discharge static electricity from the body before separating the ignition and ground wiring. This is done, for example, by briefly touching the body or the door striker or pin.
- Depending on vehicle equipment, disconnect belt inertia reels from wiring harnesses.
- Remove bolt - 4 - (50 Nm) and remove belt relay - 5 - from belt height adjuster.
- Pull seat belt together with belt relay - 5 - and belt anchor - 3 - through belt guide - 6 -.
Installation
- To install, perform the steps used for removal in reverse order.
- Connect battery ground (GND) strap.
