High Pressure Fuel Pump
Removing
- Remove the upper intake manifold. Refer to => [ Upper Intake Manifold ] Upper Intake Manifold.
- Remove the high pressure pump toothed belt. Refer to => [ High Pressure Fuel Pump Toothed Belt ] High Pressure Fuel Pump Toothed Belt.
- Remove the bolts - arrows - and the high pressure line protective plate.
- Loosen the union fittings - 1 through 4 - and free up the high pressure lines.
- Disconnect the electrical connector - 3 -.
- Remove the fuel supply hose - 1 - and return hose - 2 -.
- Remove the bolts - arrows - and remove the high pressure pump.
CAUTION!
• Follow the guidelines for a clean working environment when working on the fuel system. Refer to => [ Clean Working Conditions and Fuel System Work Instructions ] Clean Working Conditions and Fuel System Work Instructions.
• Always follow these rules before and during work.
Installing
• Tightening specifications, refer to => [ High Pressure Fuel Pump Overview ] High Pressure Fuel Pump Overview.
Installation is performed in reverse order of removal, noting the following:
• If the fuel pressure regulator valve (N276) or the high pressure pump must be replaced, the adaptation values of the regulator valve must be reset via the vehicle diagnostic tester: guided functions, resetting the adaptation values of the fuel pressure regulator valve.
CAUTION!
Letting the high pressure pump run dry will destroy it.
• The high pressure pump must be filled with fuel before starting the engine for the first time.
• Replace the gaskets and seals.
• The fuel return line must not be bent, damaged or plugged
- Install the high pressure pump toothed belt. Refer to => [ High Pressure Fuel Pump Toothed Belt ] High Pressure Fuel Pump Toothed Belt.
- High pressure lines, installing. Refer to => [ High Pressure Fuel Lines, Installing ] Service and Repair.
- Install the upper intake manifold. Refer to => [ Upper Intake Manifold ] Upper Intake Manifold.
- Bleed the fuel system after installing the high pressure pump. Refer to => [ Fuel System, Bleeding ] Fuel System, Bleeding.
