- Remove the left coolant pipe. Refer to => [ Coolant Pipes Overview ] Description and Operation.
- Remove the air filter housing.
- Remove engine mount bracket to engine mount nut - arrow - on the left and right sides.
- Remove left front wheel housing liner.
- Remove the coolant line retaining clamp nuts and bolts - arrows -.
• With the nuts and bolts removed, the coolant lines can be moved aside slightly to position the (10 - 222A/19) on the longitudinal members.
- Install the (10 - 222A) on the bolted fender flanges with the (T40091/3) and two spindles.
• The spindles are positioned forward.
- Engage both spindles in both rear engine lifting eyes.
- Install additional parts of (10 - 222A) as shown in the illustration. Position (10 - 222A/19) on the notches in the longitudinal members.
- Slide the (T40091/2) with the (T40093/5) into both (T40093/4).
CAUTION!
Secure the (T40091/2) with pins and connector cotter pins (T40093/4).
- Install the (T10014) in the mounting hole for the belt tensioner.
- Remove the (2024 A) eyes.
- Install the bolt - 1 - in the center bore of the (2024 A) again and secure with a cotter pin.
- Engage the pins on the (2024 A) in the front spindle on the (10 - 222A).
- Install the (2024 A/1) on the left side of the (2024 A).
- Engage the (2024 A) in the right front engine lifting eye and on the (T10014).
CAUTION!
Lifting hooks and alignment pins on (2024 A) must be secured with securing pins - arrows -.
- Raise the engine until the engine mount brackets are above the threaded stud on the engine mount and tension all spindles evenly to achieve even weight distribution.
- Position the (V.A.G 1383 A) on the bottom of the subframe.
- Secure the subframe using (T10300).
- Remove the bolts - 4 - and carefully lower the subframe using (V.A.G 1383 A).
- Remove the engine carrier bolts - 3 - and place the engine carrier on the subframe.
• Ignore - 1 and 2 -.
- Disconnect the connector from the oil level thermal sensor (G266) - item 1 -.
- Place the (V.A.G 1782) under the engine.
- Drain the engine oil.
- Remove the oil level thermal sensor.
- Remove the lower oil pan - arrow -.
- Rotate the upper oil pan 180° and remove it toward the front.
• When removing the lower oil pan, keep in mind that there is still some oil in it.
Installing
• Replace the seals.
CAUTION!
Wear safety glasses.
- Remove sealant residue on the upper and lower oil pans with a rotating plastic brush.
