Windshield Washer Reservoir: Service and Repair






Windshield and Headlamp Washer Fluid Reservoir

Two different versions of the washer fluid reservoir may be installed depending on vehicle equipment. The reservoir on a vehicle with a headlamp washer system is shown in the following illustrations. Removing and installing a reservoir on a vehicle without a headlamp washer system is identical.

Removing

- Turn off the ignition and all electric consumers and remove the key.

- Remove front bumper cover.

- Unclip the connecting pipe with filler tube - 1 - from the bracket - 2 -.






- Remove the mounting screw - 1 - and the mounting nut - 2 -.






- Unclip the wiring harness - 1 - from both fasteners - arrows - on the washer fluid reservoir.






The horn must be removed in order to access the front mountings for the windshield and headlamp washer fluid reservoir.

- Remove the mounting screw - 1 -, disconnect the unlatch the harness connector - 2 - and remove the horn - 3 -.






- Remove the mounting screw - 1 - and the mounting nut - 3 -.






- Remove the reservoir for the windshield and headlamp washer system - 2 -, while being careful of connected wires, and lay it to the side.

In order to prevent interchanging washer fluid line connections at Windshield and Rear Window Washer Pump (V59) , connections at pump and hose lines are color-coded. The hose connections must be connected to the corresponding colored pump connections during installation.

- To release, twist the securing clips on the hose connections - 7 - and - 8 - and disconnect them from the windshield and rear window washer pump (V59) - 9 -.






- If necessary, save the drained washer fluid in a suitable container.

- Rotate the clip on the hose connection - 4 - to release it and remove it from the headlamp washer pump (V11) - 3 -.

- Disconnect the Windshield washer fluid level sensor (G33) - 5 - connector - 6 -.

- Unclip the wiring harness - 11 - from the reservoir - arrows -.

- Pull headlamp washer pump - 3 - upward out of the tank and disconnect harness connector - 2 -.

- Remove windshield and rear window washer pump - 9 - upward out of tank and disconnect harness connector - 10 -.

- Remove the reservoir - 1 - and the connecting pipe with filler tube from the vehicle.

Installing

Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal. Note the following:

When installing the horn, make sure it is not touching any other components around it.

- Tighten all threaded connections to specified torques shown in => [ Windshield Washer System Overview ] Windshield Washer System Overview.

- Bleed headlamp washer system after completing assembly work. Refer to => [ Headlamp Washer System, Bleeding ] Procedures.
