Front Seat Pan Cover and Upholstery







Front Seat Pan Cover and Upholstery

The following describes removing and installing components on the left seat. Removing and installing components on the right seat is identical.


If the front seat cushion padding on the passenger side is replaced, replace the front passenger seat occupied sensor (G128) => [ Front Passenger Seat Occupant Sensor G128 ] Front Passenger Seat Occupant Sensor G128 or the passenger occupant detection system on released for USA and Canada vehicles => [ Seat Occupied Recognition for Passenger Airbag Deactivation ] Seat Occupied Recognition for Passenger Airbag Deactivation.

Removing

- Mount the fixture for seat repair (VAS 6136) on the engine and transmission holder (VAS 6095).

- Remove the front seat. Refer to => [ Front Seat ] Front Seat

- Attach the seat to the fixture for seat repair (VAS 6136).

- Remove the front seat belt latch. Refer to => [ Front Seat Belt Latches ] Front Seat Belt Latches

- Remove the trim on the tunnel side. Refer to => [ Tunnel Side Trim ] Tunnel Side Trim

- Remove the drawer mount, if equipped. Refer to => [ Drawer Mount ] Drawer Mount

Passenger Seat without Height Adjustment

- Remove the backrest adjustment wheel. Refer to => [ Backrest Adjusting Wheel ] Backrest Adjusting Wheel

- Remove the trim on the door sill side. Refer to => [ Door Sill Side Trim ] Passenger Seat without Height Adjustment

Passenger Seat with Pass-Through

- Remove the trim on the door sill side. Refer to => [ Door Sill Side Trim ] Door Sill Side Trim

- Remove the bracket, trim, door sill side. Refer to => [ Door Sill Side Trim Bracket ] Door Sill Side Trim Bracket

Front Seats with Manual Height Adjustment

- Remove the backrest adjustment wheel. Refer to => [ Backrest Adjusting Wheel ] Backrest Adjusting Wheel

- Remove the trim on the door sill side. Refer to => [ Door Sill Side Trim ] Door Sill Side Trim

- Remove the bracket, trim, door sill side. Refer to => [ Door Sill Side Trim Bracket ] Door Sill Side Trim Bracket

Power Driver Seat

- Remove the trim on the door sill side. Refer to => [ Door Sill Side Trim ] Door Sill Side Trim

- Remove the bracket, trim, door sill side. Refer to => [ Door Sill Side Trim Bracket ] Door Sill Side Trim Bracket

- Disconnect the two harness connectors for the backrest drives underneath the seat frame. Remove the harness connectors from the seat frame.

All seats

- Cut the mesh hose cable tie and pull the harness connector belt lock through it.

On vehicles with a luggage pass-through, it is sufficient to fold the backrest forward, it does not have to be removed.

- Remove the backrest. Refer to => [ Backrest ] Backrest

- Remove the profile - 1 -, - 2 -, - 3 - and - 4 - from the mounts in the seat frame.

- Remove the cover and the upholstery from the seat frame.






- Roll cover upward on outer sides around circumference.

- Using a small screwdriver, unclip profiles - 1 - for cover out of mounts - 2 - in upholstery.

The cover in the rear area of the seat is secured by upholstery clips; cut these with a diagonal cutter.

- Remove all the clips from the cover on cushion.

- Remove the cover - 3 - from cushion - 4 -.






Installation

- Install in reverse order of removal.

Where necessary, use Upholstery Clip Pliers (V.A.G 1634) to attach the cover to the cushion.
