- See if a coded radio is installed. If so, obtain the anti-theft code.
- Turn off the ignition and disconnect the battery ground cable.
Later in the procedure, the engine support bridge (10-222 A) is installed to the engine lifting eyes.
- Remove the engine cover if it is blocking the lifting eyes.
- Remove the air filter housing if it is located near the battery.
- Remove the battery and the battery tray.
- Remove the relay lever and the cable retainer. Refer to => [ Removing the Relay Lever Together with
the Cable Retainer ] Shift Mechanism.
- Remove the shift cable lock washer - 1 - from the transmission shift lever - 2 -.
- Remove the shift cable from the pin - arrow -.
- Remove the transmission shift lever - 2 -.
- Remove the cable bracket bolts - arrows - from the transmission, move it to the side and secure it.
There is a hose/line assembly or a pipe between the master cylinder and the breather assembly/slave cylinder.
- If a pipe is installed, clamp off the supply hose to the master cylinder using the hose clamp up to 25 mm dia. (3094).
- If a hose/line assembly is installed, clamp the hose - A - to the slave cylinder using the hose clamp up to 25 mm dia. (3094).
- Remove the clip - arrow - from the hose/line assembly or the pipe.
- Remove the hose/line assembly or pipe from the breather assembly/slave cylinder and seal it off.
Do not press the clutch pedal any more.
- Remove the upper engine/transmission bolts - arrow -.
- Then remove the upper bolt for the starter.
- Remove the noise insulation.
- Remove the bolt and disconnect the ground cable - 1 - from the bottom of the transmission.
- Disconnect the connector - 2 - from the backup lamp switch (F4).
- Remove the connector and wires from the starter.
- Remove the starter - 3 -.
- Install the bracket (T10346) to the rear hole out of the three battery tray holes.
- Use a M6 x 80 bolt or a battery tray bolt for this.
- Disconnect any hoses and wires in the area of the lifting eyes on the engine.
Install the engine support bridge (10-222 A) :
- Position the engine support bridge (10-222 A) behind the engine hood support.
- Use the following special tools:
• Support bracket (10-222 A/3)
• Adapter (10-222 A/16)
• Adapter (10-222 A/22)
• Shackle (10-222 A/12)
- Attach the engine to the adapter (10-222 A/16) using the shackle (10-222 A/12).
- Attach the bracket (T10346) to the engine support bridge (10-222 A) (see the previous illustration).
- Lightly tension the engine/transmission subassembly using the engine support bridge (10-222 A) and the spindles.
- Remove the front wheels.
- Loosen the front section of the front left wheel housing liner.
- If equipped, remove the left front level control system sensor (G78).
- Remove the left charge air hose clamps - arrows 1 and 2 - and remove the hose.
- Remove the right charge air hose.
- Remove the charge air pipe from the engine.
- Remove the fan shroud - arrow - and fans.
- Remove the exhaust system support from the transmission, if equipped.
- Remove the front exhaust pipe - arrow -from the turbocharger and secure it.
- Remove the pendulum support.
- Remove left and right coupling rods from the stabilizer bar.
- Remove the ball joint nuts - arrows - from the control arms.
- Remove the drive axle heat shield bolts - arrows - and shield, if equipped.
- Remove the drive axles from the transmission and tie them up.
- Remove the transmission mount bolts - arrows -.
- Lower the transmission by adjusting the spindles, which are attached to the engine.
- a - = approximately 110 mm
• When moving the engine/transmission assembly, be aware of the coolant hoses between the engine and heater core; do not strain.
- Remove the engine/transmission bolt - arrow -.
- Install the bracket (T10346) with the bolt - 1 - in the right threaded hole in the subframe.
- Install the bracket (T10346) in the same angled position as the engine.
- 1 - = M6 x 20 collar bolt
- Secure the engine support device (3300 A) to the bracket (T10346).
