Shift Cable: Testing and Inspection
Selector Lever Cable Checking, through 02.2009
Short Description
To check the selector lever cable for ease of movement, remove it from the transmission and position the removed end so it does not make contact anywhere.
Then, selector lever is moved and cable is installed again.
Then, selector lever cable must be adjusted, refer to => [ Selector Lever Cable Adjusting, through 02.2009 ] Adjustments.
Do not grease the cable connection!
Checking
- Place the selector lever in the P position.
- Loosen the adjustment bolt - 2 - on the cable - 1 -.
- Pry the cable - 1 - off the shift rod lever - 3 - using an open end wrench - 2 -.
Vehicles through 02.2009
- Disconnect the selector lever cable - 1 - from the cable mounting bracket - 2 - and remove it.
Vehicles from 03.2009
- Remove the retainer in the - direction of the arrow -.
- Move the selector lever from P to S and to P again several times.
• Selector lever must have freedom of movement while doing so.
- Install the cable again.
- Adjust the cable, refer to => [ Selector Lever Cable Adjusting, through 02.2009 ] Adjustments.
