Right Flange Shaft Seal
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Thrust piece (3305)
• Torque wrench (V.A.G 1331)
• Sealing grease (G 052 128 A1)
Removing
- Remove sound insulation
- If installed, remove heat shield bolts - arrows - and shield for inner right constant velocity (CV) joint from engine.
- Remove right drive axle from transmission flanged shaft - A -.
- Secure drive axles using wire, do not damage protective coating when doing this.
- Remove bolts for flange shaft, by screwing two bolts into flange and counter-holding flange shaft using a pry bar.
- Place container under transmission.
- Pull out flanged shaft with spring.
- Pull out flange shaft oil seal.
Installing
- Drive new seal in as far as stop; be sure not to distort seal.
- Fill area between sealing lip and dust lip halfway with sealing grease (G 052 128 A1).
- Insert flange shaft, secure with countersunk bolt and tighten countersunk bolt to 33 Nm.
- Install right drive axle on to flange shaft - A - of transmission.
- Install heat shield and bolts- arrows - for drive axle on engine if installed, tighten bolts to 35 Nm.
- Check gear oil --> [ Transmission Oil, Checking ] Transmission Oil, Checking.
- Install sound insulation
