Left Flange Shaft Oil Seal

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Slide hammer-complete set (VW 771)

• Pulling hook (VW 771/37)

• Thrust plate (3305)

• Torque wrench (V.A.G 1331)

• Torque wrench (V.A.G 1332)

• Sealing grease (G 052 128 A1)

Removing

- Remove left wheel.

- Remove sound insulation

- Remove front section of left front wheel housing liner

- Remove left drive axle.

- Unscrew securing bolt for flanged shaft, to do so screw two bolts in flange and counter hold flanged shaft using a tire iron.

- Place container under transmission.

- Pull out flanged shaft with compression spring.

- Pull out drive flange seal.





Installing

- Drive in new seal to stop, without canting seal.





- Fill area between sealing lip and dust lip halfway with sealing grease (G 052 128 A1).

- Insert flange shaft, secure with conical head bolt and tighten conical head bolt to 33 Nm.

- Install left drive axle.

- Install front section of left front wheel housing liner

- Install wheel

- Check gear oil --> [ Transmission Oil, Checking ] Transmission Oil, Checking.

- Install sound insulation
