Trailing Arm Bushing: Service and Repair






Trailing Arm Bushing

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Thrust plate (VW 401)

Thrust plate (VW 402)

Assembly tool (T10230)

Installation device (3372)

Removing

- Remove the trailing arm. Refer to --> [ Trailing Arm with Mounting Bracket ] Trailing Arm with Mounting Bracket.

- Install the tools as shown in the illustration.

- Remove the bonded rubber bushing.

Installing

- Place the trailing arm on a level surface.





- Place the trailing arm on a level surface so that dimension - A - = 114 mm.

- Mark a vertical line onto the bushing of the trailing arm - arrows -.

Installation Position

There are 2 different bonded rubber bushings. For both, the marked line must lie between the raised points - 1 - after installing.





- Position of the bonded rubber bushings.

Always make sure that the bushings are in the correct installation position to the bushing of trailing arm.

- Install the special tools as depicted in the illustration.

- Install the bonded rubber bushing flush.

- Install the mounting bracket onto the trailing arm. Refer to--> [ Installation Position of the Mounting Bracket to Trailing Arm, Determining ] Trailing Arm with Mounting Bracket.

- Install the trailing arm. Refer to --> [ Trailing Arm with Mounting Bracket ] Trailing Arm with Mounting Bracket.
