Compressor HVAC: Service and Repair






A/C Compressor

Observe notes --> [ A/C Refrigerant System ] A/C Refrigerant System

Removing

CAUTION!
Switch off all electrical consumers.

Switch ignition off and remove ignition key.

- Evacuate refrigerant circuit using refrigerant recycling/recovery unit Kent-Moore ACR4 (or UL approved equivalent)

- Remove ribbed belt as applicable:

Remove ribbed belt on 1.9L TDI-PD engine

Remove ribbed belt on 2.0L TFSI or 2.5L gasoline engine





- Remove noise insulation beneath engine.

CAUTION!
Frostbite danger!

High pressure refrigerant may leak out if refrigerant circuit is not discharged.

Always evacuate refrigerant prior to opening refrigerant circuit.

- Remove bolts (22 Nm ± 1 Nm) - 1 - from A/C compressor and disconnect refrigerant lines from A/C compressor.

- Remove hex screws (25 Nm) - 2 - and remove A/C compressor.

Installing

- Install in reverse order of removal, noting the following:

Ensure alignment bushings - 3 - are seated correctly.
