Drive Axle with Triple Roller Joint AAR3300i Assembly Overview





1 Outer Constant Velocity Joint

Replace only as complete unit

Removing => [ Removing Outer Constant Velocity
Joint ] Drive Axle With Triple Roller Joint AAR3300i

Installing: Drive onto shaft with plastic hammer until compressed circlip seats.

Checking, refer to => [ Outer CV Joint, VL90 and VL100 Checking ] Outer CV Joint, VL90 and VL100 Checking

2 Bolt

Always replace after removal

Hex head bolt = 200 Nm + 180° additional turn

Twelve-point bolt = 70 Nm + 90° additional turn

M16 x 1.5 x 80

Vehicle must not be standing on its wheels when loosening or tightening

3 Clamp

Always replace after removal

Tensioning => [ Tensioning clamp on small diameter ] Drive Axle With CV Joint VL90 and VL100

4 CV Boot

Check for tears and scuffing

Material: polyelastomer

5 Clamp

Always replace after removal

Tensioning => [ Tightening Hose Clamp on Outer
Joint ] Drive Axle With CV Joint VL90 and VL100

6 Dished Washer

Installed Position => [ Installed Location of Spring
Washer and Thrust Washer on Outer Joint ] Drive Axle With Triple Roller Joint AAR3300i

7 Thrust Washer

Installed position => [ Installed Location of Spring
Washer and Thrust Washer on Outer Joint ] Drive Axle With Triple Roller Joint AAR3300i

8 Securing Ring

Always replace after removal

Insert in shaft groove

9 Securing Ring

Always replace after removal

Insert in shaft groove

10 Triple Roller Star with Rollers

The chamfer - arrow - points to drive axle splines.

11 Clamp

Always replace after removal

Tension using hose clamp pliers (V.A.G 1275)

12 Protective Joint Boot for Triple Roller Joint

Check for tears and scuffing

13 Clamp

Always replace after removal

Tension using hose clamp pliers (V.A.G 1275)

14 Drive Axle

15 Bolt

20 Nm

16 Mounting Bracket

17 Rubber Mount

18 Joint Piece with Intermediate Shaft

For right side of vehicle

19 Countersunk Bolt

Pre-tighten to 5 Nm, then tighten to 35 Nm

20 Joint Piece

For left side of vehicle

21 Socket Head Bolt

Always replace bolts after disassembly

First tighten diagonally to 10 Nm, then tighten diagonally again to the tightening specification

M8 bolt = 40 Nm

M10 bolt = 70 Nm
