Evaporative Emission Control Canister: Service and Repair
EVAP Canister
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Torque Wrench (5-50 Nm) (V.A.G 1331)
Removing
- Read the safety precautions before starting. Refer to => [ Safety Precautions ] Fuel Supply.
- Pay attention to the rules of cleanliness. Refer to => [ Clean Working Conditions ] Fuel Supply.
- Remove the cover bolts - arrows - and cover from under the spare tire wheel well.
- Disconnect the connecting line - 1 -.
- Disconnect the vent lines - 2 and 3 -.
• Press the securing rings to disengage the lines.
- Using a screwdriver, release the retaining tabs - A - and remove the Evaporative Emission (EVAP) canister.
Installing
Install in reverse order of removal. When doing this note the following:
• Tightening specifications, refer to => [ EVAP System Component Overview ] EVAP System Component Overview.
• The lines - 1 through 3 - must engage audibly.
