Clutch Cover, Installing

Clutch Cover, Installing

There are two types of clutch covers. Refer to the appropriate procedure:

=> [ Covers Delivered without Bushings ]

=> [ Covers Delivered with Bushings ]

Covers Delivered without Bushings

The cover and circlip must always be replaced. Never install a new cover using a hammer and never oil the center seal or touch it with your hand!

CAUTION!
Do not grasp a new cover in the center hole. The cover will leak if it is touched, oiled, or comes into contact with any other substances in that area.

- Only hold the cover in your hands as shown in this illustration!

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Clean the guide sleeve (T10302) " before using, and do not use any scratched sleeves"

The new cover in the area of the center seal must be free of oil and dry!

- Clean the end of the clutch shaft if necessary.

Do not apply adhesive to inside of cover.

- If this is done, carefully remove the adhesive!

Only lubricate the outer edge of the seal with DSG oil.

- Place the (T10302) on a level surface.

The center seal on the new cover must now be preformed:

- Guide the cover horizontally and evenly over the entire ( T10302). This sets the sealing lips of the seal in the installed position.

- Then remove (T10302) upward out of cover and place the (T10302) on the end of the clutch shaft.

- Guide the cover horizontally over the (T10302) and press it evenly onto its seat.

CAUTION!
Handle with care. If the cover is hit in any way, leakage will occur.

It is possible to carefully pry the cover into place with a screwdriver until the new circlip can be installed.

- Install new circlip.
