Headlamp Beam Adjusting Motors

Application and Safety Notes


• Note usage and safety notes for halogen lamps, refer to => [ Application and Safety
Notes ] Halogen Headlamps.

• During removal and installation, leave ignition key with remote control inside the vehicle to prevent the doors from locking and possibly activating the Coming Home / Leaving Home functions on its own.

• If adjustment motors are removed and installed or replaced, headlamp adjustment must be checked and headlamp must be adjusted if necessary.

Removal

Illustrations depict replacement of Headlamp beam adjusting motor at right headlamp.

Replacement of adjusting motor at left headlamp is performed the same.

- Remove headlamp. Refer to => [ Headlamp Housing ] Headlamp Housing.

- Disengage retaining bracket - 3 - from housing cover - 1 - and remove housing cover from retainers - arrows -.






- Rotate adjusting motor - A - counterclockwise until bolt - arrow B - is visible.






- Remove both mounting bolts.

- Disconnect connector - 1 - on headlamp range control positioning motor - 2 -.






- Move the adjusting motor - 1 - so that ball head - arrow - of headlamp beam adjusting motor can be pulled out of guide - 2 -.






- Remove headlamp beam adjusting motor out of headlamp housing.

Installation

Install in reverse order of removal, noting the following:

- Carefully insert ball head - arrow - into ball head guide - 2 -.






- Twist adjusting motor mounting tabs - 3 - so that they align with threaded holes in headlamp housing.

- Tighten mounting bolts to 1 Nm.

Tightening specifications, refer to => [ Headlamp, Tightening Specifications ] Headlamp, Tightening Specifications.

• When installing housing cover, check for proper fitting. It is destroyed by entry of water into headlamp.

- Check headlamp for function.

- Check headlamp adjustment and adjust headlamp if necessary.
