Combination Valve, Checking
Combination valve with vacuum connection
Engine code AEG up to 05.99
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
- Hand vacuum pump VA.G1390
Requirements
- No faults (DTCs) stored in Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) memory. Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes
- Final control diagnosis performed. Programming and Relearning
- Vacuum lines and hose connections free of leaks.
- Vacuum lines not blocked/kinked.
Work sequence
- Remove engine cover.
- Pull vacuum hose -1 - off Secondary Air Injection (AIR) solenoid valve -N112- -1
- Connect hand vacuum pump VA.G1390 to vacuum hose -1 -.
NOTE: Do not use compressed air during the following check.
- Disconnect pressure hose from secondary air pump motor.
NOTE: To disconnect the hose press corrugated areas of ring together.
- Blow lightly into pressure hose - arrow -.
- Combination valve must be closed
- Operate hand vacuum pump.
- Valve must open
If combination valve does not open or is continually open:
- Replace combination valve.
Combination valve without vacuum connection
Engine codes AVH, AZG, BDC, BEV, BGD and AEG from 06.99
Requirements
- No faults (DTCs) stored in Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) memory. Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes
- Final control diagnosis performed. Programming and Relearning
- Hose unions must not leak.
Work sequence
NOTE: Do not use compressed air during the following check.
- Remove engine cover.
- Remove pressure hose - arrow - on secondary air pump motor.
NOTE: To disconnect the hose press corrugated areas of rest ring together.
- Blow lightly into pressure hose to combination valve.
- Combination valve must be closed
- Blow forcibly into pressure hose to combination valve.
- Combination valve must open
If combination valve does not open or is continually open:
- Replace combination valve.
