Input Shaft: Adjustments

Input shaft, adjusting
(Determining thickness of circlips for input shaft)

Special tools
^ Distance gauge 3167
^ Depth gauge
It is only necessary to readjust the input shaft when
^ Transmission housing
^ Input shaft
or the
^ Ball bearing is replaced.

- Clamp input shaft in vise using vise clamps -A-.
- Place distance gauge 3167 on 3rd gear.
- Place transmission housing over input shaft onto distance gauge.

- Place depth gauge on housing and measure to lower groove in input shaft.
Example: dimension -a- = 28.5 mm (1.122 inch)

- Place depth gauge on transmission housing and measure to ball bearing seat.
Example: dimension b = 26.8 mm (1.055 inch)

Determining circlip x behind input shaft ball bearing.
x = Dimension a - dimension b
x = 23.5 mm - 26.3 mm
x = 1.70 mm

The following circlips are available:

Determining circlip in front of input shaft ball bearing.
- Knock rear circlip (as calculated) and ball bearing onto input shaft with sleeve 30- too.

- Determine thickest circlip possible that can be installed in groove.

The following circlips are available:
