Removal (to 12/2010)





AIR CONDITIONING: AIR CONDITIONING UNIT: REMOVAL

1. RECOVER REFRIGERANT FROM REFRIGERATION SYSTEM Service and Repair

2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

3. REMOVE WINDSHIELD WIPER ARM AND BLADE ASSEMBLY LH Removal

4. REMOVE WINDSHIELD WIPER ARM AND BLADE ASSEMBLY RH Removal

5. REMOVE COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Disengage the 12 clips, and remove the cowl top ventilator louver sub-assembly.

6. REMOVE WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR AND LINK ASSEMBLY Removal

7. REMOVE COWL TOP PANEL OUTER

(a) Remove the 4 bolts, 2 nuts and outer cowl top panel outer.





8. DISCHARGE REFRIGERANT FROM REFRIGERATION SYSTEM Service and Repair

9. DISCONNECT SUCTION HOSE SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the bolt, and slide the hook connector.





(b) Disconnect the suction hose sub-assembly.

(c) Remove the O-ring from the suction hose sub-assembly.

NOTICE:
Seal the openings of the disconnected parts using vinyl tape to prevent moisture and foreign matter from entering.

10. DISCONNECT AIR CONDITIONER TUBE AND ACCESSORY

(a) Disconnect the air conditioner tube & accessory.

(b) Remove the O-ring from the air conditioner tube & accessory.

NOTICE:
Seal the openings of the disconnected parts using vinyl tape to prevent moisture and foreign matter from entering.

11. DISCONNECT OUTLET HEATER WATER HOSE

(a) Using pliers, grip the claws of the clip and slide the clip to disconnect the outlet heater water hose.





NOTICE:
* Do not apply excessive force to the outlet heater water hose.
* Prepare a drain pan or cloth in case the cooling water leaks.

12. DISCONNECT INLET HEATER WATER HOSE

(a) Slide the clip and disconnect the inlet heater water hose.





NOTICE:
* Do not apply excessive force to the heater water inlet hose.
* Prepare a drain pan or cloth in case that the coolant leaks.

13. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the steering column assembly Removal (to 12/2010).

14. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the instrument panel safety pad subassembly Removal (to 12/2010).

15. REMOVE NO. 2 HEATER TO REGISTER DUCT

(a) Remove the 3 clips and No. 2 heater to register duct.





16. REMOVE NO. 6 HEATER TO REGISTER DUCT ASSEMBLY

(a) Disengage the 4 claws and then remove the No. 6 heater to register duct assembly.





17. REMOVE NO. 1 CONSOLE BOX DUCT

(a) Remove the clip and No. 1 console box duct.





18. REMOVE FLOOR CARPET BRACKET LH

(a) Release the 2 clamps.





(b) Turn back the floor carpet.

(c) Remove the 3 clips.





(d) Remove the floor carpet bracket LH.

19. REMOVE FLOOR CARPET BRACKET RH

(a) Release the 3 clamps.





(b) Turn back the floor carpet.

(c) Remove the 3 clips.





(d) Remove the floor carpet bracket RH.

20. REMOVE REAR NO. 2 AIR DUCT

(a) Disengage the 2 claws and remove the rear No. 2 air duct.





21. REMOVE REAR NO. 1 AIR DUCT

(a) Disengage the 2 claws and remove the rear No. 1 air duct.





22. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL REINFORCEMENT ASSEMBLY

(a) Disconnect each connector.

(b) Disengage each clamp and claw.

(c) Remove the 6 nuts and 4 bolts.





(d) Remove the 3 bolts and nut.

(e) Using a "Torx" socket wrench (T40), remove the 5 "Torx" bolts.

HINT
The "Torx" bolts on the passenger side can be removed with the collar or for adjustment.

(f) Using a hexagon wrench (12 mm), remove the 2 collars and instrument panel reinforcement assembly.

23. REMOVE AIR CONDITIONING UNIT ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the 3 bolts, 2 screws and air conditioning unit assembly from the instrument panel reinforcement assembly.
