Front Seat Belt Removal and Installation

WARNING:

- Failure to take proper precautions when servicing seat belt components or attempting to disassemble or repair the seat belt pretensioner may cause personal injury.

- If any abnormality is found with the seat belt pretensioner, never attempt to disassemble or repair it but replace both the seat belt and buckle with a new replacement set.
- Read Service Precautions Precautions for Service and Diagnosis of Seat Belt
before starting service operations and follow all of the instructions provided.

- Pay attention to the following points referring to Components Front Seat Belt Components
when replacing the front seat belt. Otherwise, the front seat belt may not work properly and injury in case of collision.

- Tighten front seat belt bolts and front seat belt screw in numerical order.
- Tighten buckle nut to specified torque and then check that buckle can be moved backward and forward.

Removal

NOTE:

Refer to Repair and Inspection Required after Accident Repair and Inspection Required after Accident
before replacing an activated pretensioner.

1) Disconnect negative (-) cable at battery.
2) Disable air bag system. Refer to Disabling Air Bag System Disabling Air Bag System.
3) Remove center pillar lower trim. Service and Repair
4) Remove lap pretensioner connector cover (1).
5) Disconnect connector (2) from lap pretensioner (3) as shown in figure.
a) Release lock (4).
b) Disconnect connector (2).





6) Disconnect connector (1) from seat belt pretensioner (2) as shown in figure.
a) Release lock (3).
b) Disconnect connector (1).





7) Remove front seat belt screw and front seat belt bolts. Components
8) Remove front seat belt.

Installation

Front Seat Belt Inspection

Reverse removal procedure, noting the following points.

- Check that pins (3) on body are inserted in long holes (2) on retractor pretensioner (1).





- Tighten front seat belt bolts and front seat belt screw in the numerical order to specified torque. Components
- Connect connector (2) to retractor pretensioner (1) as follows.

a Connect connector (2) to retractor pretensioner with lock (3) released.
b Press lock button (3) to lock connector securely.






- Connect connector (1) to lap pretensioner (2) as follows.

a Connect connector (1) to retractor pretensioner with lock (3) released.
b Press lock button (3) to lock connector securely.

- Install lap pretensioner connector cover (4).





- Enable air bag system. Enabling Air Bag System
