Contact Coil Cable Assembly Removal and Installation
Steering Wheel and Column Components
NOTE:
The coil in the contact coil cable assembly will break if the contact coil is turned too much.
Do not turn the contact coil more than about two-and-a-half turns in either direction from the neutral position.
Removal
1) Remove steering wheel from steering column. Steering Wheel Removal and Installation
2) Remove steering column upper cover (1) and column hole blind holder (2).
3) Remove tapping screws (1) and screw (2). Detach steering column lower cover (3).
4) Disconnect contact coil cable assembly connector (1) as follows.
a) Release locking slider (1) by sliding it to arrow direction "1".
b) After unlocked, disconnect contact coil cable assembly connector by pulling it to arrow direction "2".
5) Disconnect steering switch connector (1).
6) Remove lighting & turn signal switch and wiper & washer switch. Lighting and Turn Signal Switch Removal and Installation

7) Remove steering angle sensor connector (4).
8) Remove screws (1) and detach contact coil cable assembly (3) with claw (2) released.
9) Remove screws (1) and steering angle sensor (2) from contact coil cable assembly (3).
Installation
Contact Coil Cable Assembly Inspection
Centering of Contact Coil Cable Assembly
1) Confirm that front wheels are in straight-ahead position.
2) Confirm that the ignition mode of keyless push start system is in "OFF".
3) Install steering angle sensor to contact coil cable assembly as follows.
- Fit large groove (1) of contact coil cable assembly (3) to large projection (2) of steering angle sensor (4) and fit small groove (1) to small projection (2).
4) Install contact coil cable assembly (1) to steering column. Procedures
NOTE:
New contact coil cable assembly is held at its center position with a lock pin (2). Remove this lock pin after installing contact coil cable assembly to steering column.
5) Connect steering switch connector (1) and contact coil cable assembly connector (2) to contact coil cable assembly (3).
NOTE:
Make sure to lock contact coil cable assembly connector.
6) Connect steering angle sensor connector (4).
7) Install lighting & turn signal switch and wiper & washer switch. Lighting and Turn Signal Switch Removal and Installation

8) Install steering column lower cover (1) with screw (3) and tapping screws (2).
NOTE:
Lead wires will be damaged if they get pinched when you install the covers.
Make sure that there are no wires caught between the covers before securing the covers.
9) Install steering column upper cover (1) and column hole blind holder (2).
10) Install steering wheel to steering column. Steering Wheel Removal and Installation
