Removal and Installation




Curtain Air Bag (Inflator) Module Removal and Installation

WARNING:

Failure to take proper precautions when performing service on the side curtain air bag (inflator) module can result in personal injury or non-activation of the air bag in the event of a collision.

- Never attempt to disassemble or repair an air bag (inflator) module. If any abnormality is found, replace the module with a new one.
- Carefully read Precautions for Air Bag System Service Precautions for Air Bag System Service

and Precautions for Disposal of Air Bag and Seat Belt Pretensioner Precautions for Disposal of Air Bag and Seat Belt Pretensioner
and follow all of the instructions provided.

- Do not install side curtain air bag (inflator) module while twisted or bent. Otherwise, side curtain air bag (inflator) module may not deploy and injury may result.

NOTE:

An air bag (inflator) module that has been dropped may not operate correctly.

Never use an air bag (inflator) module that has been dropped. Replace the module with a new one.

NOTE:

Refer to Repair and Inspection Required after Accident Repair and Inspection Required after Accident
before replacing a deployed air bag.


Removal

1) Disable air bag system. Disabling Air Bag System
2) Remove front pillar trim, center pillar upper trim/lower trim and rear pillar inner trim. Service and Repair
3) Remove roof lining. Service and Repair
4) Disconnect curtain air bag (inflator) module connector (3) as shown in figure.
a) Release lock (2).
b) Disconnect connector with lock released.











5) Remove curtain air bag (inflator) module bolt and remove curtain air bag (inflator) module.

Installation

Reverse removal procedure noting the following points.

- Install curtain air bag (inflator) module without twisting marking line (1) on strap part and part number marking character (2).





- Install claw (1) of curtain air bag (inflator) module to vehicle hole (2).





- Use new curtain air bag (inflator) module bolt as it is pre-coated bolt and tighten to specified torque.

Tightening torque
Curtain air bag (inflator) module bolt (a): 11 Nm (1.1 kgf-m, 8.0 lbf-ft)

NOTE:
Check that bracket of clamping part to body is securely fixed after tightening curtain air bag (inflator) module bolt.
