DTC Confirmation Procedure

WARNING:

If you do not select a suitable route and take proper precautions when performing a road test, an accident can occur.

- Select a level road with no traffic to minimize the risk of accident.
- Perform the test extremely carefully.
- Perform the road test using 2 persons, a driver and an assistant.

NOTE:

- Be sure to troubleshoot first unexpected DTCs previously detected in "DTC Confirmation Procedure".
- Confirm that the following conditions are met in this "DTC Confirmation Procedure".


- Battery voltage >= 11 V

- 4.4 °C (39.9 °F) < IAT < 35 °C (95 °F)

- 4.4 °C (39.9 °F) < ECT < 35 °C (95 °F)

- BARO > 75 kPa (0.8 kgf/cm2, 10.8 psi, 0.75 bar)

- Fuel level < 85%

- DTC P2228 or P2229 is not detected.

1) Warm up engine to normal operating temperature.
2) Drive vehicle for 40 km/h (25 mile/h) for 15 min.
3) Push engine switch to change ignition mode to "OFF" and leave ignition mode in "OFF" for 5 hours.

DTC Troubleshooting

1.
Was "Engine and Emission Control System Check" performed?
YES -
Go to Step 2.
NO -
Go to Engine and Emission Control System Check Engine and Emission Control System Check.

2. DTC check

Check DTC.

Is there DTC(s) other than P2404?
YES -
Go to troubleshooting for applicable DTC(s).
NO -
Go to Step 3.

3. EVAP leak detection pump and its circuit check

Check EVAP leak detection pump and its circuit according to Step 3 through 4 of P2400 DTC P2400.

Are they in good condition?
YES -
Go to Step 7.
NO -
Repair or replace defective wire harness.

4. EVAP vent valve circuit check

Check EVAP vent valve circuit according to Step 2 through 3 of P0449 DTC P0449.

Are they in good condition?
YES -
Go to Step 5.
NO -
Repair or replace defective wire harness.

5. EVAP leak check module check

Check EVAP leak detection pump, EVAP vent valve and EVAP leak check pressure sensor. EVAP Leak Check Module Inspection

Are they in good condition?
YES -
Go to Step 6.
NO -
Replace EVAP leak check module. Service and Repair

6. Wire harness check

Push engine switch to change ignition mode to "OFF"
Check for proper terminal connection to "C01", "E01" and EVAP leak check module connectors.
If connections are OK, perform DTC confirmation procedure and recheck DTC.

Is DTC P2404 detected again?
YES -
Replace ECM and recheck DTC. Service and Repair
NO -
Intermittent trouble.
