Front Side Air Bag (Inflator) Module Removal and Installation
WARNING:
Failure to take proper precautions when performing service on the side air bag (inflator) module can result in personal injury or non-activation of the air bag in the event of a collision.
- Never attempt to disassemble or repair an air bag (inflator) module. If any abnormality is found, replace the module with a new one.

and follow all of the instructions provided.
NOTE:
An air bag (inflator) module that has been dropped may not operate correctly.
Never use an air bag (inflator) module that has been dropped. Replace the module with a new one.
NOTE:
Refer to Repair and Inspection Required after Accident Repair and Inspection Required after Accident
before replacing a deployed air bag.
Removal
1) Disable air bag system. Disabling Air Bag System
2) Disconnect front side air bag harness connector (1).
3) Remove fitting item (1) at bottom part of backboard (2) and turn over bottom part of backboard.
4) Remove screws (3) and remove backboard.
5) Remove nut (1) and remove brackets (2).
6) Remove hook (3) of back trim and turn over back trim.
7) Disconnect front side air bag (inflator) module connector (1) as shown in figure.
a) Release lock (2).
b) Disconnect connector with lock released.
8) Remove side air bag (inflator) module nuts (4) and remove side air bag (inflator) module (3).
Installation
Reverse removal procedure, noting the following points.
- Lock connector for air bag (inflator) module securely.
- Tighten front side air bag (inflator) module mounting nuts (1) to specified torque.
Tightening torque
Front side air bag (inflator) module mounting nut (a): 23 Nm (2.3 kgf-m, 17.0 lbf-ft)
