Canister Purge Control Valve: Testing and Inspection
EVAP Canister Purge Valve Inspection
WARNING:
If vacuum is applied using your mouth, there is a risk of inhaling harmful fuel vapor.
Be sure to use a hand vacuum pump to apply vacuum.
NOTE:
If too high a vacuum is applied, the EVAP canister purge valve may be damaged.
Do not exceed a vacuum of -67 kPa (-0.68 kgf/cm2, -9.72 psi, -0.67 bar).
1) With ignition mode of keyless push start system in "OFF", disconnect connector and vacuum hoses from EVAP canister purge valve.
2) Remove purge valve.
3) Check resistance between two terminals of purge valve (1).
If faulty condition is found, replace purge valve.
EVAP canister resistance
22 - 26 ohms at 20 °C (68 °F)
4) Check purge valve operation as follows.
If faulty condition is found, replace purge valve.
a) Install special tool and vacuum hose (2) to purge valve (1).
Special Tool
(A): 09917-47011
b) Check that vacuum of -60 kPa (-0.6 kgf/cm2, -8.70 psi, -0.6 bar) can be applied to purge valve when 12 V battery is not connected to purge valve terminals.
c) Check that no vacuum can be applied to purge valve when 12 V battery is connected to purge valve terminals.
