DTC Detecting Condition and Trouble Area

DTC Confirmation Procedure
WARNING:
If you do not select a suitable route and take proper precautions when performing a road test, an accident can occur.
- Select a level road with no traffic to minimize the risk of accident.
- Perform the test extremely carefully.
- Perform the road test using 2 persons, a driver and an assistant.
NOTE:
- If other DTC than P1818 is newly detected during this "DTC Confirmation Procedure", troubleshoot the newly detected DTC in first.
- Confirm that the following conditions are met in this procedure.
- Battery voltage > 10.5 V
1) Drive vehicle at more than 50 km/h (31 mile/h) for 10 sec.
2) Stop vehicle.
3) Push engine switch to change ignition mode to "OFF", and leave ignition mode in "OFF" for 10 sec.
4) Push engine switch to change ignition mode to "ON".
5) Repeat Step 1) through 2) twice.
DTC Troubleshooting
1. Was "CVT System Check" performed?
YES
Go to Step 2.
NO
Go to CVT System Check CVT System Check.
2. DTC check
Check DTC related to CAN communication.
Is there any CAN-DTC(s) detected?
YES
Go to troubleshooting for applicable DTC.
NO
Go to Step 3.
3. Primary pulley speed sensor and its circuit check
Check primary pulley speed sensor and its circuit according to Step 3 through 4 of P0717 DTC P0717.
Are they in good condition?
YES
Go to Step 4.
NO
Repair or replace defective parts.
4. Secondary pulley speed sensor and its circuit check
Check secondary pulley speed sensor and its circuit according to Step 3 through 4 of P0722 DTC P0722.
Are they in good condition?
YES
Go to Step 5.
NO
Repair or replace defective parts.
5. Stepper motor check
Check stepper motor and its circuit according to Step 2 through 3 of P1816 DTC P1816.
Are they in good condition?
YES
Substitute a known-good TCM and recheck DTC. Service and Repair
NO
Repair or replace defective wire harness. If MIL still remains on, replace CVT assembly. CVT Assembly Dismounting and Remounting
