DTC 29

DTC 29 Crank Angle Sensor 2 Diagnostic Chart:




Crank Angle Sensor 2 Circuit:





DIAGNOSTIC CHART AND DIAGRAM

1. CHECK INPUT SIGNAL FOR ECU.
1) Turn ignition switch to "OFF".
2) Disconnect ECU connectors.
3) Check input signal for ECU from crank angle sensor

Correct Crank Angle Sensor Waveform:





^ Using oscilloscope

(a) Set the positive (+) probe at (B48) terminal No. 8, and set earth lead at (B48) terminal No. g.

(b) Cranking the engine, and check wave profile.

Crank Angle Sensor Waveform With Open Circuit:





When waveform pattern is shown on screen crank angle sensor-2 circuit is open.

^ Using voltage meter
Check if voltage varies synchronously with engine revolution when cranking, while monitoring voltage between ECU connector terminal.

Connector & Terminal/Specified value
(B59) No. 8 - No. 9/AC 0.1 V, min.

2. CHECK HARNESS CONNECTOR BETWEEN ECU AND CRANK ANGLE SENSOR 2.
1) Turn ignition switch to "OFF".
2) Remove alternator.
3) Disconnect connector from ECU and crank angle sensor 2.
4) Measure resistance of harness connector between ECU and crank angle sensor 2.

Connector & Terminal/Specified value
(B59) No. 8 - (E22) No. 2/0 ohms
(B59) No. 9 - (E22) No. 1/0 ohms

Crank Angle Sensors:





5) Measure resistance between ECU connector and body to check short circuit.


Connector & Terminal/Specified value
(B59) No. 8 - Body/1 M ohm min.
(B59) No. 9 - Body/1 M ohm min.
(B59) No. 10 - Body/1 M ohm min.

Crank Angle Sensor Inspection:





3. CHECK CRANK ANGLE SENSOR 2.
1) Remove crank angle sensor 2.
2) Set the positive (+) probe at sensor connector terminal No. I, and set earth lead at terminal No. 2.
3) Check a wave profile appears when crossing a magnet near the pick-up coil of crank angle sensor 2.
