Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview
K41B CVT: SHIFT LEVER: ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION
1. INSPECT SHIFT LEVER POSITION
(a) Turn the ignition switch to ON and step on the brake pedal.
(b) Confirm that the shift lever moves smoothly through all of the shift positions and the position indicator shows the correct shift lever position.
(c) Start the engine and confirm that the vehicle moves forward when the shift lever is moved from N to D.
2. INSPECT SHIFT LOCK OPERATION
(a) Move the shift lever to P.
(b) Turn the ignition switch off.
(c) Check that the shift lever cannot be moved from P.
(d) Check that the shift lever can be moved from P when the ignition switch is ON and the brake pedal is depressed.
3. INSPECT SHIFT LOCK RELEASE BUTTON OPERATION
(a) Move the shift lever to P.
(b) Turn the ignition switch off.
(c) Press the shift lock release button and check that the shift lever can be moved to any position from P.
4. INSPECT KEY INTERLOCK OPERATION
(a) Turn the ignition switch to ON.
(b) Step on the brake pedal and check that the shift lever can be moved to any other position from P.
(c) Check that the ignition switch cannot be turned to the LOCK position.
(d) Move the shift lever to P, rotate the ignition key to the LOCK position, and check that the ignition switch key can be removed.
