Removal and Replacement

K41B CVT: CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSAXLE FLUID: REPLACEMENT

1. REPLACE CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSAXLE FLUID

(a) Lift the vehicle. [*1]

NOTICE:
Set the vehicle on a lift so that the vehicle is kept level when it is lifted up (make sure that the tilt angle from the front to rear of the vehicle is within +/-1°).

(b) Remove the refill plug and gasket from the CVT. [*2]





(c) Using a socket hexagon wrench (6 mm), remove the overflow plug and gasket from the CVT. [*3]





(d) Using a socket hexagon wrench (6 mm), remove the No. 1 transmission oil filler tube from the oil pan and drain the CVT fluid. [*4]

(e) Using a socket hexagon wrench (6 mm), install the No. 1 transmission oil filler tube to the oil pan. [*5]

Torque : 0.8 Nm (8.2 kgf-cm, 7 in-lbf)

(f) Add fluid to the refill hole until it flows out of the overflow plug hole. [*6]





NOTICE:
Use Toyota Genuine CVT fluid TC.

(g) Wait until the fluid flow slows and only drops come out. [*7]





(h) Temporarily install the gasket and overflow plug. [*8]

HINT
Reuse the old gasket. The plug will be removed again to adjust the fluid level.

(i) Add fluid to the refill hole using the amount of fluid specified for removal and installation of the oil pan. [*9]

HINT
Specified amount of fluid is 0.4 liters (0.42 US qts, 0.35 Imp. qts).

(j) Temporarily install the gasket and refill plug to avoid fluid spillage. [*10]





HINT
Reuse the old gasket. The plug will be removed again to adjust the fluid level.

(k) Lower the vehicle. [*11]

(l) Start the engine. [*12]

(m) Slowly move the shift lever from P to M, and then back to P. [*13]

(n) Allow the engine to idle for 30 seconds to warm it up. [*14]

(o) Turn the ignition switch off. [*15]

(p) Repeat steps [*1] to [*15].

(q) Repeat steps [*1] to [*11].

(r) Adjust the fluid level. Procedures

(s) Lower the vehicle.

(t) Operation complete.
