Reassembly

STEERING COLUMN: STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY: REASSEMBLY

1. INSTALL UNLOCK WARNING SWITCH ASSEMBLY

(a) Engage the 2 claws to install the unlock warning switch assembly to the upper steering column bracket assembly.

HINT
Slide the unlock warning switch assembly, in the direction shown by the arrow in the illustration, to install it.

(b) Connect the unlock warning switch connector to the upper steering column bracket assembly.

2. INSTALL IGNITION SWITCH LOCK CYLINDER ASSEMBLY

(a) Turn the ignition switch to ACC.

(b) Install the ignition switch lock cylinder assembly to the upper steering column bracket assembly.

(a) Connect the terminals 3 and 4 to the unlock warning switch connector as shown in the illustration.

(b) Push in the stopper.

(c) Install the key interlock solenoid to the upper steering column bracket assembly with the 2 screws.

4. INSTALL IGNITION OR STARTER SWITCH ASSEMBLY

(a) Install the ignition or starter switch assembly to the upper steering column bracket assembly with the 2 screws.

5. INSTALL TRANSPONDER KEY AMPLIFIER (w/ Engine Immobiliser System)

(a) Engage the 2 claws and install the transponder key amplifier to the upper steering column bracket assembly.

6. INSPECT STEERING LOCK OPERATION Testing and Inspection

7. INSTALL UPPER STEERING COLUMN BRACKET ASSEMBLY

(a) Secure the steering column assembly in a vise.

NOTICE:
Do not overtighten the vise.

(b) Temporarily install the upper steering column bracket assembly to the steering column assembly with a new tapered-head bolt.

(a) Align the matchmarks on the No. 2 steering intermediate shaft assembly and the steering column assembly to connect the No. 2 steering intermediate shaft assembly to the steering column assembly.

(b) Install the bolt.

Torque : 35 Nm (360 kgf-cm, 26 ft-lbf)
