1NR-FE INTAKE / EXHAUST: INTAKE MANIFOLD: INSTALLATION

1. INSTALL HOSE CLAMP

(a) Install the 2 hose clamps onto the intake manifold with the 2 bolts.

Torque : 18 Nm (184 kgf-cm, 13 ft-lbf)

2. INSTALL WATER BY-PASS HOSE ASSEMBLY

(a) Install the water by-pass hose assembly onto the 2 hose clamps.

HINT
Fix the areas with blue paint marks into the hose clamps.

3. INSTALL INTAKE MANIFOLD

(a) Using "TORX" socket wrench E8, install the 2 stud bolts onto the intake manifold.

Torque : 9.5 Nm (97 kgf-cm, 84 in-lbf)

(b) Install a new No. 2 intake manifold to head gasket onto the cylinder head.

(c) Temporarily install the intake manifold onto the cylinder head with the 3 bolts and 2 nuts.





(d) Tighten the 3 bolts and 2 nuts in the order shown in the illustration.

Torque : 28 Nm (286 kgf-cm, 21 ft-lbf)

(e) Connect the water by-pass hose assembly to the EGR hole cover plate with the hose clip.

HINT
Perform the installation with the hose clamp and mark at the correct angle.

4. INSTALL UPPER INTAKE MANIFOLD SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Install a new No. 1 intake manifold to head gasket onto the upper intake manifold sub-assembly.

(b) Temporarily install the upper intake manifold sub-assembly onto the intake manifold with the 3 bolts and 2 nuts.





NOTICE:
Do not allow any foreign objects to enter the intake manifold.

(c) Tighten the 3 bolts and 2 nuts in the order shown in the illustration.

Torque : 28 Nm (286 kgf-cm, 21 ft-lbf)

(d) Connect the ventilation hose to the upper intake manifold sub-assembly with the hose clip.

HINT
Perform the installation with the hose clamp and mark at the correct angle.

(e) Install the duty vacuum switching valve to the upper intake manifold sub-assembly with the bolt.

Torque : 8.8 Nm (90 kgf-cm, 78 in-lbf)

(f) Engage the hose clamp and connect the fuel vapor feed hose to the upper intake manifold sub-assembly.

(g) Connect the fuel vapor feed hose to the upper intake manifold sub-assembly.

(h) Engage the hose clamp and connect the water by-pass hose assembly to the upper intake manifold sub-assembly.

(i) Connect the union to connector tube hose to the upper intake manifold sub-assembly with the hose clip.

5. INSTALL INTAKE MANIFOLD STAY

(a) Temporarily install the intake manifold stay with the 2 bolts.





(b) Tighten the 2 bolts in the order shown in the illustration.

Torque : 28 Nm (286 kgf-cm, 21 ft-lbf)
