WIPER / WASHER: REAR WIPER MOTOR: INSPECTION

1. INSPECT REAR WIPER MOTOR AND BRACKET ASSEMBLY

(a) Place matchmarks on the motor shaft and housing.

(b) Check the wiper motor operation.

(1) Connect the positive (+) lead of the battery to terminal 4 (+B), and the negative (-) lead to terminal 3 (LS) and terminal 5 (E), and check that the motor operates.

OK:

Motor operates continuously.

If the result is not as specified, replace the motor and bracket assembly.

(c) Check the INT operation.

(1) Connect the positive (+) lead of the battery to terminal 4 (+B), and the negative (-) lead to terminal 2 (C1) and terminal 5 (E), and check that the motor operates.

OK:

Motor operates intermittently.

If the result is not as specified, replace the motor and bracket assembly.

(d) Check the automatic stop operation.

(1) Connect the positive (+) lead of the battery to terminal 4 (+B), and the negative (-) lead to terminal 3 (LS) and terminal 5 (E). With the motor rotating, disconnect terminal 3 (LS) to stop the wiper motor operation at any position other than where the matchmarks align.

(2) Check that the motor stops automatically at the position where the matchmarks align.

Motor stops automatically at the position where the matchmarks align.

If the result is not as specified, replace the rear wiper motor and bracket assembly.
