SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEMS: FRONT SEAT SIDE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY: REMOVAL
CAUTION:
* Be sure to read Precaution thoroughly before servicing Service Precautions.
* Wear protective gloves. Sharp areas on the parts may injure your hands.
HINT
* Use the same procedure for the RH and LH sides.
* The procedure listed below is for the LH side.
1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
NOTICE:
When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Repair Instruction - Initialization.
2. REMOVE FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLY LH
Removal
3. REMOVE SEAT ADJUSTER COVER CAP Disassembly
4. REMOVE RECLINING REMOTE CONTROL LEVER SUB-ASSEMBLY LH Disassembly
5. REMOVE FRONT SEATBACK COVER WITH PAD Disassembly
6. REMOVE FRONT SEAT AIRBAG ASSEMBLY LH
(a) for Driver Side:
(1) Detach the claw and disconnect the connector from the front seat cushion spring.
NOTICE:
Be careful not to damage the airbag wire harness or connector.
(2) Detach the 3 wire harness clamps.
(b) for Front Passenger Side:
(1) Detach the claw and disconnect the connector from the front seat cushion spring.
NOTICE:
Be careful not to damage the airbag wire harness or connector.
(2) Detach the 5 wire harness clamps.
(c) Detach the pieces of fastening tape and disconnect the airbag wire harness from the seat cushion.

(d) Detach the 2 wire harness clamps.
NOTICE:
Be careful not to damage the airbag wire harness or connector.
(e) Remove the 2 nuts and the front seat airbag.
CAUTION:
When storing the front seat airbag, keep the airbag deployment side facing upward.
