Operation Check

DOOR LOCK: WIRELESS DOOR LOCK CONTROL SYSTEM (w/o Smart Key System): OPERATION CHECK

1. NOTICES WHEN CHECKING

(a) Wireless door lock/unlock function:

The wireless door lock control function operates only when the following conditions are met:

* No door control transmitter is inserted into the ignition key cylinder.

* All the doors (including the back door) are closed.

HINT
The unlock function operates even when one of the doors is open.

* The power door lock system is functioning normally.

(b) The operational range of the door control transmitter differs depending on the situation.

* The operational range differs depending on the user, the way the door control transmitter is held and the location.

* In certain areas, the operational range will be reduced due to the vehicle body shape and the influence of the surrounding environment.

* The weak electric waves from the door control transmitter may be affected if the area has strong electric waves or noise. The operational range of the door control transmitter may be reduced or the door control transmitter may not function.

* When the transmitter battery weakens, the operational range is reduced and the door control transmitter may not function.

HINT
The transmitter battery may weaken or other problems may occur if one of the following occurs: 1) the door control transmitter has had prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, such as on the instrument panel; or 2) the door control transmitter is placed within 1 m (3.28 ft) of electrical products, such as TVs, computers, cordless phones, cell phone recharger stands (with the cell phone recharging), etc.

2. CHECK WIRELESS DOOR LOCK CONTROL FUNCTIONS

NOTICE:
Perform this inspection with the customizable parameters set to the initial settings.

HINT
* The switches described below transmit signals and are built into the door control transmitter.
* The operational range of the door control transmitter must be taken into account while checks are being made.

(a) Make sure the vehicle is in a condition in which the wireless control functions can be operated (see above).

(b) Check the basic functions:

* Check that the transmitter LED illuminates 3 times or more when a lock switch of the door control transmitter is pressed and held for 5 seconds.

HINT
If the LED does not illuminate 3 times or more when a switch is pressed and held, the transmitter battery may be depleted.

* Check that when the unlock switch is pressed once, only the driver side door unlocks. When the unlock switch is pressed again within 3 seconds, check that all doors (including the back door) unlock (unlock 2 operation).

* Check that all the doors (including the back door) unlock when the unlock switch is pressed.

(c) Check the chattering prevention function:

When a switch is pressed, check that the corresponding operation occurs only once. When the switch is held down, check that the corresponding operation occurs only once and does not repeatedly activate. Lastly, when the switch is pressed at 1 second intervals, check that the corresponding operation activates once for each press of the switch.

(d) Check the answer-back function:

* When the lock switch is pressed, check that the hazard warning lights flash once and the wireless door lock buzzer sounds once simultaneously with the locking operation of all the doors (including the back door).

* When the unlock switch is pressed once, check that the hazard warning lights flash twice and the wireless door lock buzzer sounds twice simultaneously with the unlocking operation of all the doors (including the back door).

(e) Check the automatic locking function:

When all of the doors are unlocked with the unlock switch and none of the doors are opened or locked within 60 seconds, check that the doors lock again.

(f) Check the switch operation fail-safe function:

If the door control transmitter is in the ignition key cylinder, check that the doors cannot be locked by the lock switch. However, this does not apply when the system is in recognition code registration mode.

(g) Check the illuminated entry function:

* When the map light door switch is on, the No. 1 room light door switch is on and all the doors (including the back door) are locked, check that pressing the unlock switch causes the interior light to illuminate and all the doors (including the back door) to unlock simultaneously.

* If the doors have not been opened, check that the interior light turns off in approximately 15 seconds.

(h) Check the door ajar warning function:

* If a door is open or not completely closed, check that the doors cannot be locked by the lock switch and that the wireless door lock buzzer sounds for 10 seconds.

HINT
The wireless door lock buzzer stops sounding if one of the following conditions is met:

* The wireless door lock buzzer has sounded for 10 seconds.
* The ignition switch is turned to ACC or ON.
* All the doors (including the back door) are closed.

(i) Check the panic alarm function.

* Check that the horns sound, that the headlight assemblies, rear combination light assemblies and hazard warning lights flash, and that the interior lights remain on (when the light switch is turned to the door position) for 60 seconds due to the theft alarm function when the panic switch is held down for 1.0 second or more. Also, check that the horn stops sounding and the lights stop flashing when any switch of the door control transmitter is pressed.
